Edward VII wooden writing slope box with rosewood veneer, and a mosaic marquetry band of various pieces framing the cartouche lid, as well as a mosaic lid edge. Inside is pine lined, with slotted compartments in the lid for paper and envelopes, a large compartment under the upper writing board, and sectioned compartments under the lower writing board for stationery. There are two glass inkwells with lids, although one has a dented lid, and both are well used with dried ink on the screw threads. The writing pad is fitted with a red leather skiver, but is possibly a replacement. Also fitted with a lock, keep, and functioning key.
It measures 12½" x 10¼" x 6¾" or 320mm wide by 260mm deep by 170mm high, and has a total item weight of 3180g.

c.1905
General wear from age and use. Some slight cracking and warping, and small areas of mosaic missing to the lid section. Writing skiver likely a replacement. Dent to one of the inkwells, possibly from dropping. Lock and key works, but somewhat notchy in its action.
