Set of 6 Elizabeth II britannia silver assay teaspoons, with rattail pattern handles and spoon back drops. This is a special set of assay spoons, commemorating the three remaining English assay offices, after the Chester Assay Office closed in 1962, with two spoons displaying Birmingham hallmarks, two London, and two Sheffield. Comes in their original display box. Hallmarks are clear and all consist of the Britannia mark for Britannia 958 silver. Each of the three assay city, date and maker are as follows: anchor mark for Birmingham, Birmingham date letter Q for 1965, and makers mark H W for Arthur Hamil Westwood, Assay Master of the Birmingham Assay Office; lion-head-erased mark for London, London date letter k for 1965, and makers mark LAO for the London Assay Office; and crown mark for Sheffield, Sheffield date letter X for 1965, and makers mark S S C, as yet unidentified.
