George III sterling silver sugar tongs with plain Old English pattern stems.
Hallmarks are clear and consist of the lion passant mark for sterling silver, London date letter C for 1798, makers mark G S for George Smith II, and the George III duty mark. No city mark, which was intentionally absent by the assay office on low weight silver during this period.
They measure 142mm long, by 15mm wide at the bow, with 13mm wide spoon bowls, and have a silver weight of 41.6g.
