Sterling silver chatelaine thimble holder with scrolled decoration and a padded velvet interior. Fitted with a sterling silver dimple decorated thimble.
The hallmarks on both are worn but readable. The holder hallmarks consist of the lion passant mark for sterling silver, three-wheat-sheaves-and-a-sword mark for Chester, Chester date letter R for 1900, and makers mark C S F S for Cornelius Saunders & Francis Shepherd.
The thimble hallmarks consist of the lion passant mark for sterling silver, anchor mark for Birmingham, Birmingham date letter e for 1904, and makers mark W J H for William James Holmes.
The holder measures 23mm wide by 24mm high (50mm high inc. handle & jump ring), and the thimble measures 17.5mm in diameter by 24mm high. The silver weight of the holder is unavailable, but the thimble has a silver weight of 6.7g, and a total item weight of 18g (inc. holder).
