William IV sterling silver vinaigrette, with a rectangle casket shape, a hinged lid, a framed bordered textured lid and base, and an engraved rectangle cartouche to the lid E D. Inside is gilded, with its floral pierced hinged grill, and oasis sponge pieces inside. Some wear and tarnishing to the hallmarks, which consist of the lion passant mark for sterling silver, anchor mark for Birmingham, Birmingham date letter L for 1834, makers mark G W for Gervase Wheeler, and the George IV duty mark, which was still being used by the Birmingham assay office.
