Early Victorian silver pill or snuff box, with a plain oval design, and a reddish-brown banded agate mounted hinged lid.

Hallmarked in London, 1840, with the Victoria duty mark, and the makers mark GFP for George Frederick Pinnell.

Condition
The inset agate has no chips or cracks. The silver has no splits or repairs, but some dents and surface wear consistent with age and use, especially to the inside which has some deep scratches. The lid doesn't sit true against the base - overlaps at the front slightly. The hallmarks are tarnished, with slight wear to the makers mark, but well defined and legible.
